OUR NOTES

We visited Grace and Selway in July 2025. This was Grace’s 2nd year staffing Granite Mountain along with her gorgeous pup Selway and we absolutely could not WAIT to visit her!

When we first arrived a fellow lookout, Chris, was also visiting. He was currently staffing Pollock Mountain Lookout and had come over for a visit before his planned Ultra Marathon the next day.

During our visit with Grace & Selway we got to see her resupply visit via helicopter.

And with that resupply were the ingredients for Grace’s extremely tasty spaghetti!

During our visit we saw both a black bear and a red fox. We didnt get to see Goaty – the resident mountain goat – maybe next visit!

One truly fantastic thing about Granite Mountain Lookout is the log book! It has been maintained by all the lookouts over the years – theyve each left a letter recapping their season on the mountain. Its absolutely wonderful!

Here is the list of the lookouts that have staffed Granite Mountain over the years:

We would like to give a massive THANK YOU to Grace and Selway for inviting us up and giving us a glimpse into their life as a lookout on Granite Mountain. We had so much fun!
