History

St Joe Baldy was first a forest service camp in the 1920.

1932 – Staffed by Herb Uttley

1934 – Staffed by Whitey Ferris (*USFS Photo Collection)

In 1935 an L-4 cab was built.

1943-44 – Staffed by Gretchen Farber (*National Archives Catalog)

In 1954 a concrete L-4 cab atop the minor summit 1 mile SW was built.

Our Notes

Today St Joe Baldy stands closed up and appears to be in use along with the electrical powers atop the peak.
