HISTORY
1939: Camp with crow’s nest established
1941: Abandoned
OUR NOTES
While the road is still on the map, it is overgrown, and I can’t imagine that any vehicle has driven to the top in the last 20 – 30 years.
There are several flat spots at the top and out to the point that would have made a good camp, but we could not find remnants of the actual camp.
Likewise, we could not locate an actual tree used as a crow’s nest. We found several trees that appeared to be the size and age we would expect from a tree used as a crow’s nest, and some that had been limbed and/or topped. These are all things we have discovered when locating crow’s nests in the past. However, no trees had complete identifying markers such as boards, #9 wire, spikes, etc.
The only find was a piece of braided cable, which I am guessing was from a logging choker….oh and some beer cans, but there aren’t too many mountaintops we have found without those.
