OUR NOTES
Chilco Mountain – both North and South, are popular hiking destinations in North Idaho. I’ve personally been here several times and not ONCE have I had good weather. LOL!
Coincidentally our most recent visit in 2026 also happened to be at the same time as a helicopter rescue of a hiker/trail runner on South Chilco that had fallen and broken their femur. A good reminder to us to slow down and pay more attention to our footing.
The ruins at North Chilco are 4 obvious cement footings, a set of cement stairs, a cement stabilizer footing, the ruins of what appears to have been a cabin, the stovepipe and lots of wire & cable.
