OUR NOTES
A friend, Mike Miller, told us that he had found something interesting up here at Larch Mountain when he was Elk hunting. So this one has been on our radar for about a year. We finally hiked up to check it out for ourselves.
It was a HOT DAY and while not a difficult hike, the heat made it feel longer than it likely was.
But what we found was WORTH IT!
THE ALIDADE STAND!
From what we could tell at the site – it appeared that the tower was burnt but they removed the alidade stand and placed it nearby. The top mechanism still slides even!
We also were able to find 3 of the cement footings, the chimney, a bed frame and other assorted piece of debris.
Yeah – we get pretty excited about this kind of thing! Sure wish it could talk and tell us its stories!
