Our Notes

Read Chad Kinzel’s story about being a lookout at Bernard Peak here.
This was a pretty exciting location. There was a lot of lookout history here. We found evidence of multiple towers around the peak.

But the most exciting find was the partial engraving on a piece of concrete:
“R.L. 8-29”
We guess the initials were left by a CCC Boys crew. I am unsure whether this was August 29th, and the year was broken off this piece, or if it was just August of 1929. The 40′ pole tower was built in 1930, according to the data we have found.
