Polaris Peak

Drive-InDestroyed
Elevation: 5585′Coeur d’Alene National Forest

History

1931: L4 Pole Tower
1968: Destroyed

Our Notes:

We were able to drive all the way up to this site and found two remaining footings and one tie-down still in place. Other than that, the site is quite clear.

It was a little odd not to find the other two footings. Based on what we’ve seen at other sites, we expected them to have been pushed over the hill, but after walking the area thoroughly, we came up empty.

Interestingly, the two we did find are located downhill from the actual summit and line up well with the historic photos of the older L-4 that once stood here.
