Daveggio Knob

Drive-InDestroyed / Removed
Elevation: 5882′St. Joe National Forest

History

1939: Camp
1942: L-4 Cab w/ Patrol Point on NW Ridge
1963: Destroyed

Our Notes

Yet another road blocked by a mess of downfall. We parked and hiked up, other than climbing over logs, the road itself was in decent shape.

As soon as we reached the top of the knob, we knew this was a special place. The views of the entire Joe are incredible, including Middle Sister and Snow Mountain. I haven’t found a single photo of the L-4 that once stood here, but it must’ve been a spectacular sight.

We located all four footings, along with other remnants like wire and metal fragments.

We also walked out to the point, which served as a patrol site, but didn’t find any visible signs of its past use.
