Scofield Lookout

Hike-InDestroyed
Elevation: 4265′Clearwater National Forest

History

1923: Tree platform & shake cabin for living quarters

1931: 108′ Pole tower with enclosed platform

1934: 100′ steel tower with new cabin living quarters

1957: Dismantled – half of tower going to Shanghai LO and the other half going to Bertha Hill LO

Where the towers stood has been logged and only cement footings remain (and a whole lotta stickers & burrs). Bertha Hill can be seen in the far distance.

All 4 cement footings from the most recent 100′ tower were still on site as was a cement footing for the base of the stairs.
