History
Green Mountain Lookout was first built in 1930 as a log cabin with a cupola.
In 1956 the current 41′ TT L-4 tower was built.
In 1971 the tower was set to emergency status.

We don't yet have a documented staffing history for this lookout. If you know who staffed this tower — or have a photo, story, or record to share — we'd love to hear from you.
Our Notes
During our visit to Green Mountain Lookout in 2020 the tower was staffed due to a nearby fire. We visited with the forest service personnel about the fire they were watching and they explained the possible behavior and their responses to that behavior. We learned a lot from our relatively short visit.
