Harvey/Mission Lookout

Hike-InAbandoned
Elevation: 6402′Kanisku National Forest

HISTORY

1930s: Site of a fire fighting camp. Also a patrol point on Mission Mountain

Our Notes

The trail into this location was very overgrown and hard to follow. However we eventually made it into the correct spot and wow, were we surprised by the amount of ruins left behind for us to find.

First off though, we found cement footings and yet the history as we know it says there was never a tower here. We also found 4 intact shutters – which also tells us there was a tower but that is not in the history that we have access to.

So many questions!

We also found 2 bed frames, shaving cream, roof tiles and what could possibly be the shards from a Forest Service ceramic water pitcher.
