Grizzly Mountain Lookout

Drive-UpAbandoned
Elevation: 5950′Coeur d’Alene National Forest

History

1914: 12×12 stone frame cabin

1929: Cupola cabin

Also 4 crows nests along ridge top

1955: Abandoned

Our Notes

The site of this lookout has only the rock foundations from the cabin & cupola. We found a little bit of telephone wire as well. Most of the rocks have been carved with visitors names, the oldest of which we could make out was the mid 1960s.

There are two rock cairns located on nearby peaks – only one of which has a benchmark, it appears the other was taken.

The ridge has all been logged and/or burnt over the years – there are no remaining crows nests.
